THE JOB
AFP TV is seeking a motivated, dedicated full-time Video Journalist in Moscow starting in September 2022.
Working in a team of three video journalists in AFP's Moscow bureau, you will cover news, feature stories and sports across Russia and the former Soviet Union, working closely with colleagues in text and photo. You will be regularly required to undertake reporting missions in the region and occasionally elsewhere in Europe and in the rest of the world.
You will assist the Moscow video coordinator in organising video coverage in the region. This will involve helping her and the London video desk in handling the video production from Russia and other countries managed by the Moscow bureau: subbing and translating dopesheets from stringers and other VJs, adapting features in your working language, editing videos, recording and editing live feeds, sourcing UGC and providing training and feedback when necessary to video contributors.
You will have a good understanding of the needs of our clients in the broadcast sector, as well as in the growing digital market. The role may require long working days and unsociable hours, dictated by the news agenda, and will include working some weekends and public holidays.
You will closely monitor social media and strictly adhere to the Agency's guidelines on social media activity.
You will contribute to the fight against misinformation by helping factcheckers in the network and ensure you are trained in the various methods of online verification, now indispensable for all journalism.
As a general rule, you commit to respecting AFP's ethics charter as well as all the editorial guidelines in force and in the Agency's style guide.
In an ever-changing media environment, the nature of the job could evolve in line with coverage demands and the requirements of an increasingly diverse client base.
