Opening of "Quoi de neuf à l’Est" photo exhibition in Kinshasa

On April 20, 2023 the exhibition "Quoi de neuf à l'Est" ("What's new in the East") was launched at cultural centre CWB in Kinshasa. The exhibition shows the work of Alexis Huguet, AFP photojournalist based in Kinshasa, which focuses on the wave of violence in eastern DRC from 2018 to 2023.

Debunking misinformation and publishing fact checks is essential but a new, unprecedented, project will soon help us understand better the disinformation phenomenon. “Narratives Observatory combatting Disinformation in Europe Systemically” or NODES is a pilot project set up by seven research and media partners including AFP, coming from four European countries and co-funded by the European Commission.

AFP has the largest network in the world of expert journalists in charge of digital investigations. AFP’s fact-check service is covering 36 countries. In Asia alone, 11 countries and territories in five languages, including English, Thai, Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Malay and Burmese. Burmese is the 14th language to be added to the AFP Fact Check website.
