Video Journalist and Coordinator for Russia, the Caucasus and Central Asia

THE JOB
AFP TV is seeking a motivated Video Journalist for a full-time position as coordinator in our Warsaw hub starting in June 2025.
The job involves coordinating and supervising the video production and the work of local video staff and stringers in Russia, the Caucasus and Central Asia. You will be in touch daily with video journalists in Moscow and stringers in the region, as well as producers in Warsaw and external sources, making sure the video coverage is well planned and going out smoothly.
It also involves shooting and editing news and feature stories from the region, with regular trips in the various countries, especially in Russia where you will be in regular contact with the authorities.
You will also be charged with managing and keep building up a contacts book of third-party video providers, especially with those offering live feeds and edits of news events.
Reporting to the AFP TV Europe Editors in Chief in London and to the regional bureau chief, the successful candidate will be skilled at setting up, shooting, scripting, voicing and editing news and feature packages as well as delivering very high-quality b-roll edits.
The role will involve travel across the region and occasionally elsewhere in Europe and the world depending on the agency’s needs.
You will have a good understanding of our clients’ needs in the broadcast sector, as well as in the growing digital market.
You will be sending weekly and daily agendas on video coverage in the region, as well as filing IRIS 360 events.
You will have to maintain the credibility and reliability of our coverage and respect the agency's editorial policy and copyright guidelines.
You should be familiar with using social media as a news-gathering tool and be comfortable sourcing user generated content and applying AFP’s editorial guidelines concerning the use of UGC.
The job requires flexibility in terms of working hours. You need to be available, when necessary, to work evenings and weekends and to travel, both in and outside the country.

SKILLS REQUIRED
A self-starter with good organisational and multi-tasking abilities, you will be passionate about video news, have a We are looking for someone with:
- At least ten years’ experience of filming and editing short-format hard news and news feature packages for AFP, broadcast or cable networks.
- Experience in coordinating a video coverage for AFP.
- Good shooting/editing skills, including live video.
- Honed digital non-linear editing skills, preferably on Final Cut Pro and/or Adobe Premiere.
- Excellent news judgment and knowledge of current events.
- Understanding of live feeds transmission.
- Ability to use a drone.
- Ability to coordinate a network of stringers.
- Fluent in Russian, and English or French.
- Good knowledge of social media and the AFP TV authenticating process.
- Strong writing skills.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and availability to work evenings and weekends.
- Driving license.
